...RAINFALL...
The following is the storm-total rainfall graphic from the Paducah National Weather Service radar. The precipitation estimates were fairly accurate within 60 to 80 miles of the radar, but accuracy decreased at greater distance from the radar. The color scale (at top of graphic) indicates that yellow and gold shading represents rainfall in excess of three inches. The daily rainfall total for Feb. 24 was 3.20 inches at the Paducah National Weather Service office. This broke the old daily rainfall record for Feb. 24 by nearly an inch and a half. Since portions of western Kentucky remain in severe drought, the rainfall was needed to help lower long-term deficits. At Evansville, the daily rainfall total was 2.56 inches, which also set a record for the day.
