Damage Survey Confirms Three Tornadoes in Southwest Indiana on Feb 28

A survey team from the Paducah National Weather Service Office has confirmed 3 tornadoes hit southwest Indiana during the early morning hours of February 28.  The strongest has been rated EF2 and caused damage in Oakland City.  Full details of each of tornado follows below.

   PRINCETON INDIANA IN GIBSON COUNTY. IT TRAVELLED EAST THROUGH
   OAKLAND CITY...AND THEN INTO PIKE COUNTY...WHERE IT PASSED
   THROUGH THE CITY OF ARTHUR AND EVENTUALLY LIFTED 2 MILES WEST
   SOUTHWEST OF VELPEN.

* PEAK WIND..........115 MPH

* PATH WIDTH.........300 YARDS ...MAX WIDTH ONE-THIRD MILE WITH
   SOME STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS...

* PATH LENGTH........19.25 MILES

* INJURIES...........NONE

* FATALITIES.........NONE

* DAMAGE DETAIL......THE MOST INTENSE DAMAGE OCCURRED IN OAKLAND
   CITY AND 2 MILES EAST OF ARTHUR. NUMEROUS HOMES WERE
   DAMAGED...A FEW WITH MAJOR DAMAGE...2 WERE TOTAL LOSSES.
   SEVERAL HUNDRED TREES WERE UPROOTED OR SNAPPED AND NUMEROUS
   POWER LINES WERE DOWNED.
