A narrow but intense band of heavy snow occurred during the morning of Tuesday, November 29. A total of 2 to 4 inches fell within this band, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Numerous accidents and travel problems were reported in a narrow band extending from Johnson County, Illinois southward across Ballard and Carlisle Counties in Kentucky, to Fulton, KY. The snow melted rather quickly as temperatures rose above freezing during the afternoon. The intense snow band occurred in association with a strong upper-level low as it lifted northeast across eastern Kentucky.

Outside of the heavy snow band, accumulations were generally an inch or less on grassy areas.
