Storm reports from Thursday afternoon

In a summer-like pattern more typical of June than March, thunderstorms developed over western Kentucky and southwest Indiana during the heat of the day. The storms developed in an unseasonably warm and humid atmosphere, with temperatures around 80 and dew points in the lower 60's. Winds aloft were unseasonaby weak, which helped to limit the duration and intensity of the severe storms. The primary severe weather hazard was large hail. Sub-severe wind gusts from 40 to 55 mph were observed at several reporting sites in the Pennyrile region of western Kentucky.
