HEAT/PRECIPITATION CLIMATOLOGY:

• July was the warmest month on record at Paducah. The average temperature of 84.5 degrees broke the previous record average temperature of 84.2, set in July of 1993.
• July tied the warmest month on record at Cape Girardeau. The average temperature of 83.6 tied two other months for warmest month on record (July of 1980 and July of 1993).
• The record average temperature was not broken at Evansville. July was tied for the second warmest month on record at Evansville. The record warmest month was July of 1936, with an average temp of 85.1. A record was set for average daily high temperature, which was 97.3 degrees in July. The old record was 96.0, set in July of 1936 and tied in August of 2007.

Records go back to 1897 at Evansville, 1937 at Paducah, and 1960 at Cape Girardeau.

PADUCAH KENTUCKY:

For Paducah Kentucky...through July 7... there had been 24 consecutive days with afternoon high temperatures above normal and 24 consecutive days with temperatures greater than or equal to 90 degrees. The most consecutive days for temperatures 90 degrees or more is 38...ending on August 3rd 1993. The most consecutive days of high temperatures 100 degrees or greater is 5...which occurred several times. The most recent occurrence ended on July 2 of 2012. The warmest day during the month of June was 106 degrees set on June 30th 1952...and the hottest day ever recorded is 108 degrees set on July 17th 1942. However, on June 29th, Paducah, KY reached 108 degrees which ties the all time record and also makes it the warmest day for June. And for precipitation, 0.90 of rain fell in June. This is the 5th driest June on record...and the driest June occurred in 1952 when only 0.26 inches fell.

The warmest day in June was 104 degrees set on June 26th 1954. However..we broke that on June 28 2012 with 107 degrees. The hottest day ever recorded is 111 degrees set on July 28th 1930. And for precipitation...0.15 inches had fallen in June. This is the driest June on record. The old record is 0.38 inches set in June 1933.  We will update this page as new daily data comes in.
