Polygon Based River Flood Warnings

Effective immediately, WFO Paducah will be issuing polygon-based flood warnings and statements for rivers in our area. Instead of seeing the entire county turn green on the Watch/Warning/Advisory Map on the front page of our web site, only the area along the river in proximity to the river forecast point will be highlighted. This will be especially helpful when we are experiencing river flooding and severe weather at the same time, which happens quite often in the spring.

Below is an image of how a flood warning along the Ohio River may look. Please keep in mind that these are not to be considered flood inundation maps, but are to graphically represent a river flood warning in effect that may not necessarily affect the entire county.
