A series of severe thunderstorms moved across rural area of Las Animas County Wednesday evening, April 21. One supercell produced a tornado (7:09 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.) within the boundaries of the Pinon Canyon Military Reservation southeast of Thatcher, Colorado, in a remote, rugged, uninhabited area. NWS Pueblo is determining whether a trip to the general area is feasible and/or practical. As of early Thursday morning, no photos were available of the tornado. Below are radar images of the supercell thunderstorm.
