Strong winds on May 24

An unseasonably strong storm system is bringing high winds to much southeast and south central Colorado.  A high wind warning is in effect until 6PM Monday.  The most wind damage has been reported in El Paso County where there have been reports of trees blown down, and confirmed wind gusts in excess of 65 MPH.    The following plot shows high wind reports as of 1:30 PM:


The tornado watch has been canceled for Baca, Bent, Kiowa and Prowers Counties.  A few strong storms developed close to the Kansas and Colorado border late in the morning and rapidly raced to the north northeast away from the area.
