Colorado Springs received 4.50 inches of precipitation on September 14th, 2011 and 0.86 inches of precipitation on September 15th, 2011; bringing a two day total of 5.36 inches recorded at the Colorado Springs Airport.  These amounts not only smash the previous record precipitation amount of 0.46 inches recorded on September 14th of 1957; it is also the greatest amount of precipitation ever recorded in a one and two day period in Colorado Springs, surpassing the 4.29 inches of precipitation received on September 11th of 2008, and the 2 day previous record of 5.24 inches ending on August 4th of 1999.
