An Unusally Warm and Dry March

March of 2012 was an unusually warm and dry month, across most of south central and southeast Colorado. The following graphics indicate departures from normal for both temperature and precipitation for the month of March across the state.

This is 8.9 degrees above normal and makes March of 2012 the warmest on record in Colorado Springs; surpassing the average temperature of 47.4F, recorded in March of 1910. Colorado Springs received only 0.06 inches of precipitation in March. This is almost an inch below normal (-0.94 inches) and makes March of 2012 the 6th driest March on record in Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs recorded 0.7 inches of snow through the month of March. This is 7.4 inches below normal, and makes March of 2012 tied as the 7th least snowiest March on record in Colorado Springs.

Pueblo received 0.11 inches of precipitation in March. This is 0.82 inches below normal and makes March of 2012 the 7th driest March on record in Pueblo. Pueblo recorded 1.8 inches of snow in March of 2012. This is 3.9 inches below normal and is the 30th least snowiest March on record in Pueblo.
