2012: A Very Warm and Dry Year

2012 was one the warmest and driest years on record across south central and southeast Colorado.  The average temperature for the year in Colorado Springs was 53.0 degrees, making 2012 the warmest year on record in Colorado Springs.  Colorado Springs recorded only 8.11 inches of precipitation throughout the year,  making 2012 the 4th driest year on record in Colorado Springs. The average temperature for the year in Pueblo was 54.9 degrees, making 2012 tied as the 5th warmest year on record in Pueblo.  Pueblo recorded only 5 inches of precipitation throughout the year, making 2012 the 2nd driest year on record in Pueblo. Alamosa went into the month of December as one of the top 5 warmest and driest years on record.  However, after a cold and wet December, Alamosa  ended 2012 tied as the 7th warmest year and the 20th driest year on record.
