JANUARY 2007 – Slightly Colder than Normal
An Arctic cold front moved through the area during mid-January bringing very cold temperatures with the Riverton climate station recording a low of 19 below zero on the 15th. Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 13.0 degrees, 1.3 degrees colder than normal.

The total precipitation for January was 0.27 inches which was normal for the month.  Snowfall for the month was 6.6 inches; 1.7 inches above normal.

FEBRUARY 2007 – Warmer and Slightly Drier than Normal
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 29.3 degrees, 7.5 degrees above normal. The lowest minimum temperature for the month was 23 below zero on the second.  The total precipitation for February was 0.10 inches which was 0.14 inches below normal.  Snowfall for the month was 2.1 inches which was 2.2 inches below normal.

MARCH 2007 – Second Warmest March on Record, But Ending with a Major Snowstorm
A strong early Spring snowstorm dumped 9 inches of snow in the Riverton area with 30 inches recorded near Lander and up to six feet on the east slopes of the Wind River Mountains.  Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 42.2 degrees which was 7.3 degrees above normal.   New daily high temperature records were set on the 13th, 17th, and the 27th.  Precipitation totaled 0.51 inches which was 0.03 inches above normal.  9.0 inches of snowfall accumulated which was twice the normal total of 4.5 inches.

APRIL 2007 – Ninth Driest April on Record
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 46.5 degrees which was 2.2 degrees above normal.  A high of 86 degrees on the 29th set a new daily record.

The monthly precipitation total of 0.25 inches was 0.76 inches below normal, making it the ninth driest April on record.  Snowfall for the month was a trace, which was 4.2 inches below normal.

MAY 2007 – A Little Warmer and Drier than Normal
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 57.4 degrees which was 2.4 degrees above normal for May.   A record high of 88 was set on the 12th.  The total precipitation was 1.41 inches, which is 0.37 inches below normal.  Total snowfall for the month was 3.0 inches which was 2.6 inches above normal.

JUNE 2007 – Fifth Warmest June on Record
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 67.1 degrees which was 3.3 degrees above normal.  The total precipitation for June was 0.83 inches which was 72 percent of normal. The greatest 24 hour amount was 0.71 of an inch which occurred on the 6th.

JULY 2007 – Second Warmest and Second Wettest on Record
Monsoonal moisture resulted in slow moving storms hitting the Riverton area July 25-27th when a total of 2.65 inches of rainfall was recorded over the three day span at downtown Riverton.  Total precipitation for the month was 3.18 inches which was 2.51 inches above normal and resulted in the second wettest July on record.
 
Riverton’s average temperature for the month was 76.1 degrees which was 5.7 degrees above normal and resulted in the second warmest July on record.  A record high of 101 degrees was set on the 2nd and the 22nd, these were also the highest temperature readings of the year 2007 for downtown Riverton.

AUGUST 2007 – Fourth Warmest on Record.
Riverton’s average temperature for the month was 71.6 degrees which was 3.1 degrees above normal.   The highest temperature for the month was 99 degrees on the 14th, and the lowest temperature was 46 on the 25th.
Total precipitation for the month was 0.35 inches which was 0.14 inches below normal.  The day with the greatest rainfall was 0.13 inches on the 2nd.

SEPTEMBER 2007 – Warmer and Drier than Normal, No Snow.
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 60.3 degrees, which was 2.9 degrees above normal.  September set one record high temperature of 87 degrees on the 22nd.   The highest temperature for the month was 94 degrees on the 2nd and 4th, and the lowest temperature was 30 degrees on the 25th.  Total precipitation was 0.41 inches which was 0.47 inches below normal.  No snowfall was recorded during the month.

OCTOBER 2007 – Warmer and Slightly Drier than Normal, Less than an Inch of Snow.
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 47.6 degrees which was 2.7 degrees above normal.  The warmest reading for the month was 78 degrees on the 10th.  The coolest reading for the month was 23 degrees on the 28th.  The total precipitation was 0.67 inches which was 0.14 inches below normal.  Riverton received 0.6 inches of snowfall which was 1.9 inches below normal for the month.

NOVEMBER 2007 – Much Warmer and Drier than Normal
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 34.2 degrees which was 6.1 degrees above normal.   New record highs were set of 70 degrees on the 8th, 62 degrees on the 18th, and 68 degrees on the 19th.  The total precipitation was only 0.08 inches which was 0.39 inches below normal.  Total snowfall for the month of 1.4 inches was well below the monthlynormal of 4.9 inches.

DECEMBER 2007 – Tenth Snowiest on Record
Riverton’s average monthly temperature was 13.0 degrees which was 2.9 degrees below normal.  The highest temperature for the month was 58 degrees on the 4th and the coldest temperature was 17 below zero on the 28th.   The total precipitation was 0.64 inches which was 0.26 inches above normal.  12.5 inches of snowfall accumulated which was 7.4 inches above normal for the month.   8.3 inches of this snow blanketed the area during the major snowstorm on December 7-8.
