Termination of TWEB Forecasts on September 30

The National Weather Service in Riverton will cease the production of the Transcribed Weather Broadcast, or TWEB, on Sunday, September 30.  The last regularly scheduled TWEB will be issued at 20Z (2:00 p.m.) on that Sunday.  The following routes will no longer be available after that time.

TWEB 288 - KCPR-KRIW-KJAC
TWEB 290 - KRKS-KBPI-KJAC
TWEB 291 - KRKS-KRIW-KBIL
TWEB 311 - KCPR-KRKS

16 FEBRUARY 2006 SUMMARY OF CHANGES STATES TWEBS WILL ONLY BE
PROVIDED IN ALASKA. FAA HAS STATED NO REQUIREMENT FOR CONUS TWEB
FORECASTS ONCE THE AUTOMATED FLIGHT SERVICE STATIONS CEASE
FUNCTIONING AND LOCKHEED-MARTIN CONTRACT FLIGHT SERVICE
FACILITIES REACH FULL OPERATIONAL STATUS ON JULY 31 2007.
A PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ABOUT ENDING CONUS TWEB FORECASTS ENDED
MAY 20 2007 WITH A RESPONSE FROM LESS THAN 1 PERCENT OF
POTENTIALLY AFFECTED GENERAL AVIATION PILOTS.
AN ANALYSIS OF COMMENTS SHOWED THAT THE TWEB IS NOT USED BY THE
MAJORITY OF GENERAL AVIATORS IN ADDITION TO BEING NOT REQUIRED
BY FAA.  THEREFORE THE NWS WILL CEASE PRODUCING THE TWEB AT
0000 UTC SEPTEMBER 30 2007. THE NWS POLICY DIRECTIVE SYSTEM
(PDS) 10-805...TRANSCRIBED WEATHER BROADCASTS...WILL BE UPDATED
ACCORDINGLY. AN EXAMPLE OF THE TWEB PRODUCT WHICH IS BEING
TERMINATED IS AS FOLLOWS:
