Very Strong Winds Pound the Cowboy State

A strong mountain wave produced very strong west winds across the Absaroka mountains and the adjacent Cody Foothills.  Another strong mountain wave produced very strong winds across the Bighorn mountains and the adjacent Buffalo Foothills.  In addition, a strong pressure gradient produced strong winds across a large portion of the remainder of western and central Wyoming, but not quite of the same magnitude.  Below is a table of the peak wind gusts during this event.
