Radar Outage - Updated 8/26 6AM

The Doppler Radar located in Riverton covering western and central Wyoming remains down due to a significant hardware failure.  The estimated restoration time is between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. today (8/26). Other surrounding Doppler Radars include Billings, Cheyenne, Grand Junction, Pocatello, Rapid City and Salt Lake City.

Isolated to locally scattered thunderstorms will occur today. If you experience significant weather, please give the National Weather Service Office in Riverton a call at 1-800-211-1448.  The primary hazards today will be strong and erratic winds and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.  In addition the lightning could spark new wildfires.  Please report any new wildfires to the nearest local law enforcement, and they will relay the information to the correct agency.  Thank you.
