Riverton Radar Is Currently Out of Service

The Riverton radar is currently out of service.

The Doppler Radar located in Riverton, covering western and central Wyoming is down again this morning due to a significant hardware failure.  No time frame yet when this will be fixed. Other surrounding Doppler Radars include Billings, Cheyenne, Grand Junction, Pocatello, Rapid City and Salt Lake City.

Isolated to locally scattered thunderstorms will occur again today. If you experience significant weather, please give the National Weather Service Office in Riverton a call at 1-800-211-1448.  The primary hazards today will be strong and erratic winds and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.  In addition, the lightning could spark new wildfires.  Please report any new wildfires to the nearest local law enforcement, and they will relay the information to the correct agency.  Thank you.
