Problem With an Old NWS Message on TV?

We have been getting a lot of phone calls from cable customers around Wyoming this morning about a crawl at the bottom of the screen on the Weather Channel that warns of a strong thunderstorm in the area (from last night).

While we often work closely with our media partners, the Weather Channel is a separate entity. The National Weather Service is the only official source of watches, warnings, and advisories so private companies often re-broadcast our products, including the Weather Channel. However, we have no control over how long the product is advertised.

If you are having a problem with the "local on the 8's" feature on the Weather Channel, please know that we are aware of the problem and have contacted the Weather Channel about the issue with their information delivery system.

Please keep an eye on our homepage for the latest on any hazardous weather conditions at your location, as we may have more strong thunderstorms later this afternoon. You can also visit a PDA friendly website from your phone at: http://mobile.weather.gov/

or you can sign up to receive automatic weather alerts from the National Weather Service on your phone at : http://inws.wrh.noaa.gov/

or you can listen to NOAA weather radio.

Thank you to all of those who have called to notify us of the problem.
