Peak Wind Speeds Wednesday February 22, 2012

Strong wind occurred over the Cowboy State on Wednesday.  Many areas east of the Continental Divide saw the strongest winds from the late morning through the early evening hours ahead of an advancing cold front pushing south from Montana.  These winds were mainly from a southwest to west direction.  Locations in the Big Horn Basin and Johnson County generally experienced the strongest winds during the mid and late evening hours following passage of the cold front.  These gusty late evening winds were from a north to northwest direction.  Below are the peak wind gusts at selected wind sensors across Western and Central Wyoming.
