Cold Front Brings Strong Wind and Snow to the Area

A cold front swept across the forecast area on Saturday bringing widespread snow and wind to the region. The mountains across the west recieved a little over one foot between Friday evening and late Saturday morning.  Snow showers across central Wyoming persisted into Saturday night with most lower elevations receiving between 1 and 3 inches of snowfall.  Wyoming High Country Lodge, 26 miles east of Lovell in the Bighorn Mountains, topped the storm total snowfall list with 19 inches.   The highest wind gust recorded during the event was 130 mph on Mount Coffin at 10,850 feet in the Wyoming Range.

Visible Satellite imagery showed the western piece of the cold front colliding with the secondary cold front dropping south out of Montana right over Casper at around noon Saturday.
