Winter Storm Summary Banner

A strong winter storm impacted far western Wyoming Saturday and Sunday with significant snowfall especially above 7000 feet. Some locations in the far western mountains received 2 1/2 feet of snow from Friday night through Sunday.  The vigorous storm system pulled enough warm air northward that snow mixed with rain, or changed to all rain below 7000 feet Saturday limiting snowfall amounts in Jackson Hole and Star Valley.  The heaviest snowfall occurred Saturday night with this system.  East of the Divide the main impact from this system was the very strong and sometimes damaging winds.  On the heels of the main storm system, a secondary storm system dropped south out of Canada giving heavy snowfall to some areas east of the Divide Monday night into Tuesday morning.  The Cody Foothills were hardest hit with 8 to 12 inches in Cody and a foot of snow in Meeteetse.
