...Two Tornadoes Confirmed in Cherokee and Barton Counties...

Confirmed EF-0 Tornado in Barton County

A National Weather Service Storm Survey concluded that a that a tornado impacted sections of Lamar, Missouri late Sunday afternoon.  The damage path was located on the southwest corner of Lamar Lake, and extended approximately one half of a mile in length.  The damage width was approximately 200 yards.  Based on uprooted and damaged trees, this tornado received an EF-0 rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with winds estimated at 80 mph.

 

Tornado Touches Down In Northern Cherokee County

A second tornado was confirmed 3 miles north of the town of Scammon in northern Cherokee County Kansas.  Video received from KODE TV in Joplin captured this brief tornado late Sunday afternoon.  This tornado touched down in the vicinity of Coal Valley Road in an open area.  No damage was observed with this tornado and it received an EF-0 rating.
