While thunderstorms and even severe thunderstorms are a possibility later this afternoon into this evening, the thunderstorm activity is forecast to begin well after the 1:30 pm drill time, so the statewide tornado drill will take place this afternoon as scheduled.

Also, as a reminder, the FCC has granted an Emergency Alert System waiver for the state of Missouri for the statewide tornado drill. This will allow the National Weather Service to initiate the drill at approximately 1:30 pm CDT today by tone alerting NOAA Weather Radios using the TOR EAS code.

It is our hope that every school, citizen, and business participates in the drill by putting their tornado plan into action.
