SPRINGFIELD HAS BEEN 80.0 DEGREES. THIS IS THE SIXTH WARMEST ON
RECORD. THE WARMEST AVERAGE TEMPERATURE ON RECORD FOR JUNE 1
THROUGH AUGUST 12 AT SPRINGFIELD WAS A BALMY 83.7 DEGREES DURING
THE SUMMER OF 1934. IN JOPLIN...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FROM JUNE
1 TO AUGUST 12 IS 81.2...WHICH IS THE SEVENTH WARMEST ON RECORD.
THE WARMEST AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR JUNE 1 THROUGH AUGUST 12 FOR
JOPLIN WERE DURING THE SUMMER OF 1911...WHEN THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS 84.7 DEGREES.

WHILE THE AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION THE
HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURES FOR A GIVEN DAY...AN EXAMINATION OF JUST
THE LOW TEMPERATURES SO FAR THIS SUMMER IS EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE.
