Record Cold Temperatures This Weekend!
An unusually cold airmass surged into the region late Friday night. Although no record lows were realized Saturday or Sunday morning, temperatures were still quite chilly--and nearly 20 degrees below normal!
Maximum temperatures Saturday were record breaking at both Topeka and Concordia. The highest temperature at Billard Airport (in Topeka) Saturday was 40 degrees. The highest temperature at Blosser Field (in Concordia) was also 40 degrees. The previous record coldest highs at each site are listed in the table below. Sunday maximum temperatures are on track to break records as well!
The unusually cold weather will linger into the early part of the work week, with the expected highs around 20 degrees below average Monday and Tuesday! Just for comparison, the average highs and lows for Topeka and Concordia are around 70/45 this time of year.
