Excessive Heat Expected Through the Weekend

Excessive heat to persist well into this weekend

Very HOT temperatures are forecast across northeast, east-central and north-central Kansas through the week and into this weekend.  High temperatures are expected to be near or above 100 degrees through the middle of next week.  Afternoon heat indices will commonly range between 105 and 110 degrees, and occasionally approach 115 degrees.  Overnight temperatures will not provide much relief as lows will only cool to the 75-80 degree range.  Rain chances will remain low through this period as well.

Heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke could occur from prolonged exposure to the dangerous heat.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.  When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or late evening.  Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.  Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and be sure to DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!
