November 8, 2011 Snowfall
An early November snowfall occurred across portions of the region after a prolonged period of rain early in the week. Cold air quickly moved into the Central Plains and precipitation moved out of the region. However, a few locations across northeast Kansas saw a changeover to snow before the precipitation was over. A narrow band of accumulating snow develop stretching from Hutchinson northeast to Hiawatha and into south central Iowa with amounts as high as 4 inches reported in northeast Kansas. Below the visible satellite image is able to capture the snow on the ground early this morning. The second image is a map of snowfall accumulations based on reported received by the National Weather Service.
