Winter Weather Possible Sunday night into Monday

Expected Weather: An upper level system will move into the Central Plains Sunday night and Monday. Precipitation will begin in the form of all snow across the entire area Sunday night before mixing with drizzle or light freezing drizzle by midday Monday.  


Areas Affected: North central, east central and northeast Kansas.


Timing:  Sunday night through Monday


Expected Accumulations:  Total snowfall accumulations should range from 1 to 2 inches in the North Central to around 3 inches in the Northeast and East Central.



Potential Impacts

Light snow Sunday night and a wintry mix Monday could cause hazardous travel conditions during the entire period. 



Weather Discussion

 An upper level disturbance will move out of the desert southwest on Sunday and move into the Central Plains Sunday night and Monday. Widespread light snow will occur across the area late Sunday and early Monday morning. With temperatures rising to near or just above freezing on Monday, drizzle or light freezing drizzle may mix with the snow before coming to an end by early Monday evening.
