November 2013 Climate Summary

November ended up being cooler and drier than normal, with quite a bit of wind, and some very strong fronts.  See the climate summary writeup below for more information.

TEMPERATURES FALLING DURING THE DAY AND STRONG WINDS WERE NOTABLE ON
A FEW OCCASIONS IN NOVEMBER. AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT SURGED SOUTH
THROUGH TOPEKA AROUND MIDDAY OF NOVEMBER 11 CAUSING TEMPERATURES TO
FALL FROM LATE MORNING READINGS IN THE LOWER 60S TO THE UPPER 30S BY
SUNSET...WITH WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS NEAR DAWN OF THE
12TH. SOUTH WINDS GUSTED BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH FOR MUCH OF THE EARLY
PORTIONS OF NOVEMBER 17...WITH SIMILAR SPEEDS FROM THE WEST ON
NOVEMBER 18 AS A POTENT STORM SYSTEM PASSED THROUGH THE PLAINS. THE
WINDS ON THE 18TH CAUSED A FEW POWER LINES TO BE BLOW DOWN.
TEMPERATURES STEADILY DROPPED THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER 21 WITH RAIN AND
DRIZZLE CHANGING TO FREEZING DRIZZLE AND FREEZING RAIN. MINOR
ACCUMULATIONS OCCURED BUT SLICK ROADS AND A FEW POWER OUTAGES
OCCURED.
