Update on the Terry Peak NOAA Weather Radio station outage:
The new equipment is scheduled to be installed this Saturday, January 31. Technicians will replace the broken antenna as long as weather conditions on Terry Peak are favorable for climbing.
The antenna was broken by high winds in early January, so the signal is weak and cannot be heard over most of its normal range.
Any weather warnings or emergency messages issued for the Terry Peak broadcast area of the northern Black Hills, northwestern South Dakota, and northeastern Wyoming will be transmitted over the Rapid City NOAA Weather Radio station so it will be aired on local radio and television stations through the Emergency Alert System.
Routine forecasts are available on this web page by clicking on the front page map or calling the Rapid City NWS forecast line 605-341-7531; this number is answered 24 hours a day.
