Windy Thunderstorms cross the Black Hills

Thunderstorms moved across the Black Hills region during the night of June 29 and early morning of June 30. The storms produced strong wind gusts but little rain. Some wind gusts reports from the area:

Ellsworth Air Force Base: 54 mph
Dupree: 53 mph
Wind Cave National Park: 51 mph
Rapid City NWS office: 49 mph
Downtown Rapid City: 49 mph
14 miles northwest of Belle Fourche: 48 mph
Mount Rushmore: 47 mph
Custer County Airport: 47 mph
Indian Butte (32 miles north of Belle Fourche): 46 mph
Newell: 46 mph
Red Canyon (10 miles northeast of Edgemont): 46 mph
10 miles west of Edgemont: 46 mph
Sturgis airport: 45 mph
3 miles northwest of Wasta: 45 mph

Rochelle Hills (24 miles southeast of Wright): 52 mph
Echeta: 51 mph
Pine Haven: 51 mph
Beulah: 50 mph
16 miles southwest of Gillette: 50 mph
Gillette-Campbell County Airport: 46 mph
