First measurable snow falls in the Black Hills

November 1 - Two to four inches of snow fell over the Black Hills, southwestern South Dakota, and parts of northeastern Wyoming November 1 and 2--the first measurable snow of the 2011-2012 winter season. Both the downtown Rapid City National Weather Service Office and the Rapid City Regional Airport received only a trace of snow (less than 0.1 inch) and it quickly melted.
