Check weather radio batteries when changing clocks Sunday

It's time to "Spring Ahead" as Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. this Sunday, March 9. When you change your clocks ahead one hour; also make sure the batteries in your smoke detectors, flashlights, and NOAA Weather Radio receivers are working so they are ready for the approaching thunderstorm season. Weather radio receivers provide life-saving warnings for tornadoes, flash floods, severe thunderstorms, and other local emergencies such as wildfires and hazardous materials incidents; especially when you are sleeping, don't have local television or radio stations on, or the electricity is off. More information is available on our NOAA Weather Radio page.
