An upper level storm system will affect the Northern and Central Plains through Friday. Showers and thunderstorms Thursday night will lead to widespread showers on Friday. Showers are expected to taper off from south to north Friday night. Some uncertainty still exists with the exact track and speed of this system, but rainfall amounts over an inch are likely across much of western and central South Dakota, especially areas north and east of the Black Hills. Rain is expected to change over to snow across the higher elevations of the Black Hills Friday afternoon and night, but accumulations are expected to generally be light. The chance for rain and snow showers will continue through the weekend.
Expected precipition through Saturday Night by the NWS Hydrometeorological Prediction Center.
