July 2012 Temperature and Precipitation Extremes

July 2012 was very warm across western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming. Several locations had one of the warmest Julys on record. Overall, most areas were dry. However, thunderstorms during the month provided some rainfall which kept most stations from reaching record low precipitation amounts. A few sites received heavy rainfall which put them in the top 10 for the wettest July on record.
