Learn about severe thunderstorms & tornadoes at "The Science of Storms"

Thunderstorms are an almost-daily occurrence around the Black Hills during the summer. How would you know the signs of a potentially-dangerous storm? Learn about “The Science of Storms” at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 22 at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Classroom Building Room 204West. National Weather Service meteorologists will discuss tornado formation, warning systems, and how people can protect themselves from storms as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, April 22 through 26. The SDSMT Weather Association, Black Hills Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, and the Rapid City-Pennington County Emergency Management Office are sponsoring the program, which is open to the public and free of charge. People may park in the main parking lot. For more information, contact the National Weather Service.
