Downtown Rapid City measures its snowiest April

April 22, 2013 - After receiving 9.7 inches of snow on April 21-22, 2013, downtown Rapid City has set a record snowfall for the month of April with a total of 39.5 inches, which is also the snowiest month ever in the city's history. The previous April snowfall record was set in April 1927, when 38.5 inches of snow fell.

73.0 inches of snow has fallen during the 2012-2013 season, which ranks as the fourth greatest seasonal snowfall.  The record seasonal snowfall occurred in 2008-2009 when 90.2 inches of snow fell.
