Early Winter Storm will bring blizzard conditions and heavy snow to the Black Hills region

An early winter storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds to the Black Hills region tonight through Saturday morning. Snow will develop over northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills tonight. Rain will change to snow over western South Dakota Friday as cold air pushes into the area.  Blizzard conditions will develop Friday morning as north winds increase to 30-50 mph with gusts reaching 70 mph causing blowing snow and near-zero visibilities on the South Dakota plains. For the latest information about this storm, read our winter weather statement or check the winter weather briefing page.
