OVERVIEW / LOCAL AREA AFFECTED:
 

EXTREME DROUGHT IS NOW CONFINED TO AN AREA ALONG THE ARKANSAS
BORDER IN RIPLEY AND BUTLER COUNTIES. SEVERE DROUGHT IS DEPICTED
SOUTH OF A LINE FROM DONIPHAN MISSOURI TO MADISONVILLE KENTUCKY.
MODERATE DROUGHT EXISTS SOUTH OF A LINE FROM VAN BUREN MISSOURI TO
PADUCAH KENTUCKY TO ROCKPORT INDIANA.

SUMMARY OF IMPACTS...

SOIL MOISTURE CONDITIONS...

RAINFALL DURING THE PAST MONTH HAS HELPED TOPSOIL CONDITIONS...HOWEVER
SUBSOIL NUMBERS SHOW DEFICITS.

CLIMATE SUMMARY...

WINTER WEATHER HAS GRIPPED THE REGION DURING THE PAST WEEK
BRINGING A MIXED BAG OF PRECIPITATION OF RAIN...SNOW...SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN. MODERATE RAIN LAST WEEKEND DROPPED BETWEEN ONE-HALF
AND ONE INCH OF RAIN BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO SNOW SUNDAY. MANY
AREAS RECEIVED 1 TO 2 INCHES. A MIX OF RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN
DROPPED UP TO ONE-HALF INCH LATER THIS WEEK.

AT PADUCAH KENTUCKY...A 1.16 HAS FALLEN SO FAR IN DECEMBER...THIS IS
1.25 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. SINCE JANUARY 1...35.61 INCHES HAS
FALLEN...11.66 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

AT EVANSVILLE INDIANA...1.16 INCHES OF RAIN AND SNOW HAS FALLEN
THUS FAR IN DECEMBER...THIS IS 0.82 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. SINCE
JANUARY 1...32.14 INCHES HAS FALLEN...10.57 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK...

THE NEXT WEEK LOOKS MOSTLY DRY WITH A FEW DISTURBANCES BRINGING
LOW CHANCES OF PRECIPITATION.

THE 8 TO 14 DAY OUTLOOK...FOR DECEMBER 24 THROUGH 30...CALLS FOR
CLIMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS FOR BOTH TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION.
DURING THIS TIME...NORMAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ARE 32 TO 35 DEGREES.
NORMAL TOTAL PRECIPITATION DURING THIS TIME PERIOD IS BETWEEN
THREE-QUARTERS AND ONE INCH. THE TERM CLIMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS
MEANS THERE ARE EQUAL CHANCES FOR BELOW NORMAL... NORMAL...AND
ABOVE NORMAL CONDITIONS.

HYDROLOGIC SUMMARY AND OUTLOOK...
