Visual Hazardous Weather Outlook Key
A description of "This Period is Clear" for a given time period
indicates that none of the hazards listed in the Outlook are expected during that
time frame.
Fire
| None | None |
| Low | At least 1 of the following criteria are met:
1) relative humidity will be less than 25%
2) the 20 foot sustained wind speed will be >15 mph. Forecaster discretion.
3) the ten hour fuel stick moisture is <9%
or
sporadic wild fire conditions are noted
4) Forecaster discretion |
| Elevated | At least 2 of the following criteria are met:
1) relative humidity will be less than 25%
2) the 20 foot sustained wind speed will be >15 mph. Forecaster discretion.

| High | Red Flag Warning for part or all of the area. This means that the expected relative humidity will be less than 25%, the 20 foot sustained wind speed will be >15 mph, and the ten hour fuel stick moisture is <9%. These three criteria must be met, or on the advice/request of a fire weather manager. |
Fog
| Low | Some fog, mainly in valleys and near rivers. |
| Elevated | Locally dense fog. Most areas experiencing fog, but only a few locations have visibilities less than one quarter of a mile. |
| High | Dense Fog Advisory - Widespread fog with visibilities of a quarter mile or less |
Freeze
| Low | Widespread temperatures expected between 30 and 32 degrees during the growing season. |
| Elevated | Widespread temperatures expected between 28 and 32 degrees during the growing season. |
| High | Widespread temperatures expected below 28 degrees during the growing season. Or, if a Freeze Warning is in effect (forecaster discretion). |
Frost
| None | No frost expected. |
| Low | Patchy frost expected...especially in out-lying and well sheltered areas. |
| Elevated | Areas of frost expected. Frost advisory may be in effect. |
| High | Widespread frost expected. Frost advisory or Freeze Warning in effect. |
Hail
| None | No hail expected. |
| Low | Small hail possible. Less than 1 inch in size. |
| Elevated | Hail possible. 1 inch in size up to golf ball size possible. |
| High | Hail possible. Larger than golf ball size hail expected. |
Heavy Rain
| None | Heavy Rain not expected. |
| Low | Isolated locations could receive some heavy rain. Not expected to be widespread. |
| Elevated | Heavy rain expected over some of the area. Localized flooding possible. |
| High | Flood or flash flood watch in effect. There is the Potential for heavy rain and flooding over large areas. |
Lightning
| None | None expected. |
| Low | Occasional cloud to ground lightning expected with stronger storms. |
| Elevated | Frequent cloud to ground lightning expected with stronger storms. |
| High | Near continuous cloud to ground lightning with the strongest storms. |
River Flooding
| None | No river flooding expected. |
| Low | Minor flooding - minimal or no property damage, but possibly some public threat or inconvenience. |
| Elevated | Moderate Flooding - some inundation of structures and roads near stream. Some evacuations of people and/or transfer of property to higher elevations is necessary. |

Strong Winds

| Low | Winds of 20 to 30 mph expected, or a Lake Wind Advisory is in effect. |
| Elevated | Wind Advisory. sustained winds of 30 mph and/or wind gusts to 45 mph expected. Weak branches may break and fall from trees. |
| High | High wind Warning. Wind gusts of 58 mph or higher expected. Downed trees and power lines expected. |
Thunderstorm Winds
| None | Thunderstorms expected...but wind gusts of less than 20 mph expected. |
| Low | Thunderstorms expected with most wind gusts below 58 mph. |
| Elevated | Thunderstorms expected with some wind gusts greater than 58 mph. |
| High | Thunderstorms expected with wind gusts above 58 mph and large areas of wind damage possible. |
Thunderstorms
| None | No thunderstorms expected |
| Low | Thunderstorms forecast for this time period. However, they are expected to be scattered or isolated in coverage. Non-severe thunderstorms expected. |
| Elevated | Thunderstorms are likely, or coverage is expected to be scattered to numerous. Storm Prediction Center may or may not have us outlooked in a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms. |
| High | Thunderstorms are expected and the Storm Prediction Center has us outlooked in a moderate or high risk of severe weather. |
