Introduction
During the afternoon hours on 17 May 1999, a derecho moved across southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southwest Indiana. WFO Paducah issued Severe Thunderstorm warnings for 56 counties during a 6 hour period. One Tornado warning was issue from a report of a gustnado. Severe weather reports were received from 46 counties.
