...PRELIMINARY STORM DAMAGE ASSESSMENT FOR UNION AND HENDERSON 
COUNTIES IN WEST KENTUCKY...
 
NWS OFFICIALS CONDUCTED A GROUND STORM DAMAGE SURVEY YESTERDAY IN 
UNION AND HENDERSON COUNTIES. THE FOLLOWING ARE THE 
PRELIMINARY FINDINGS OF THE SURVEY. THIS INVESTIGATION IS 
ONGOING...SO THIS PRODUCT WILL BE UPDATED IF FURTHER INFORMATION 
BECOMES AVAILABLE.

* EVENT DATE: TUESDAY MAY 6 2003 INTO WEDNESDAY 7 MAY 2003

* EVENT TYPE: F1 TORNADO  

* ESTIMATED TIME:  APPROX 1152 PM TO 1222 AM CDT
                   
* EVENT LOCATION: APPROXIMATELY FROM BOXVILLE IN UNION COUNTY TO 1 
MILE EAST OF ROBARDS IN HENDERSON COUNTY.
  
* ESTIMATED MAX WINDS: 110 MPH  

* DAMAGE AREA DIMENSIONS: 100 YARDS WIDE...15 MILES LONG.
 
* INJURIES:  NONE
     
* FATALITIES: NONE

* DAMAGE: MOST OF THE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED IN AND NEAR 
ROBARDS WHERE 3 MOBILE HOMES WERE DESTROYED. SEVERAL LARGE BARNS 
WERE DESTROYED AND DAMAGE TO AN EMPTY GRAIN SILO. UPWARDS OF 100 
TREES WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
