...BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST (1 PM EST) TODAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH KENTUCKY HAS ISSUED A BLOWING

SNOW ADVISORY FOR THE ENTIRE QUAD STATE.

NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BE STRONG AND GUSTY THROUGH THE MORNING

HOURS...RANGING FROM 15 TO 25 MPH. OCCASIONAL HIGHER GUSTS ARE

POSSIBLE. DESPITE SNOWS THAT WILL EVENTUALLY TAPER OFF...SIGNIFICANT

ACCUMULATIONS ON THE GROUND AND ANY ADDITIONAL SNOW...EVEN VERY

LIGHT...WILL COMBINE WITH THE WIND TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS BLOWING AND

DRIFTING SNOW CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT THE MORNING.

THESE STRONG WINDS THAT WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL

RESULT IN EXTREMELY LOW VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. ROADWAYS...NEARLY

IMPASSABLE DUE TO SNOW AND ICE DEPTHS RANGING FROM 1/2 FOOT TO NEARLY

2 FEET...MAY EVEN WORSEN IN SOME LOCALES AS SNOW DRIFTS COULD

POTENTIALLY REACH AS HIGH AS 5 FEET.

A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG AND GUSTY WIND WILL

COMBINE WITH FALLING SNOW OR SNOW ON THE GROUND TO PRODUCE BLOWING

AND DRIFTING. SNOW ON GRASSY AREAS WILL LIKELY BLOW OVER

ROADWAYS...PARTIALLY COVERING OR FURTHER BLANKETING THE

PAVEMENT. ALSO...BLOWING SNOW WILL SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER VISIBILITIES.

IN ADDITION...SNOW DRIFTS WILL LIKELY FORM NEAR STRUCTURES SUCH AS

HOMES...CARS...OR TREES...AND AS A RESULT...SNOW DEPTHS COULD BECOME

SIGNIFICANTLY DEEPER THAN IN AREAS EXPOSED TO THE WIND AND AWAY FROM

STRUCTURES.
