an upper level disturbance moved across the area overnight...
sparking some scattered showers and thunderstorms across areas
generally along and south of interstate 80. brief heavy rains
were observed ... with rainfall totals mainly under a half inch. an
exception was aledo illinois ... where the rainfall total this
morning was 0. 88 inches. otherwise ... skies were partly cloudy to
cloudy south of i 80 ... while areas to the north saw clear to
partly cloudy skies. temperatures bottomed out in the middle 50s
to lower 60s ... with the exception of burlington where temperatures
only slipped into the middle 60s.

additional scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible
across the entire area towards mid to late afternoon ... as a
second upper level disturbance moves into the region. in the
meantime ... partly to mostly sunny skies will be common ... as
temperatures rise into the upper 70s to middle 80s.

calm winds and clear to partly cloudy skies will be on tap across
the area tonight ... as temperatures settle into the upper 50s to
lower 60s by saturday morning.
