FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL
COLORADO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER/BOULDER CO
350 PM MDT SAT APR 25 2015

.DISCUSSION...TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...AN UPPER TROUGH OVER THE GREAT
BASIN WILL BRING SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT TONIGHT WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE AREA. SURFACE FLOW WILL TURN EASTERLY
TONIGHT TO INCREASE MOISTURE ACROSS THE AREA. THIS WILL CREATE LOW
CLOUDS WITH AREAS OF RAIN ALONG THE FRONT RANGE AND EASTERN PLAINS.
EXPECT MUCH COOLER WEATHER TOMORROW WITH UPSLOPE FLOW TO INCREASE IN
SPEED AND DEPTH. THIS WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT SNOW AMOUNTS TO
ELEVATIONS ABOVE 9000 FEET IN THE FRONT RANGE MOUNTAINS...AND MIX OF
RAIN AND SNOW DOWN TO NEAR 8000 FEET...AND WIDESPREAD RAIN SHOWERS
OVER THE PLAINS. A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE SUNDAY
AFTERNOON.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY...A STORM
SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO SUNDAY NIGHT
AND THEN INTO THE TEXAS PANHANDLE AREA BY MONDAY. THIS WILL BRING
NUMEROUS RAIN SHOWERS TO THE PLAINS...WIDESPREAD RAIN AND SNOW TO
THE FOOTHILLS...AND HEAVY SNOW AT TIMES TO THE FRONT RANGE MOUNTAINS.

DRIER WEATHER WILL DEVELOP MONDAY EVENING INTO TUESDAY WITH JUST A
SMALL CHANCE OF SHOWERS BUT COOL TEMPERATURES. THEN WARMER AND
DRIER WEATHER WILL DEVELOP WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS A RIDGE OF HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS OVER THE STATE.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY ERRATIC WINDS...
...ALL SURFACE WINDS ARE 20-FOOT...10-MINUTE AVERAGED WINDS...
...CWR IS CHANCE OF WETTING RAIN - 0.10 INCH OR MORE LIQUID...
...24 HR TRENDS ARE BASED ON AVERAGES OVER THE RESPECTIVE ZONE
GROUPS AND MAY NOT MATCH THE ACTUAL FORECAST VALUES
                     SHOWN IN THOSE GROUPS...
