FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
734 AM PDT TUE APR 28 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OVER THE GULF OF
ALASKA WILL SWING A WEAK COLD FRONT THROUGH TODAY...BRINGING
LIGHT RAIN...BREEZY WINDS...AND MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES.
THE UPPER TROUGH WILL MOVE THROUGH WEDNESDAY AND TRIGGER SOME
SCATTERED WEAK SHOWERS. A FLAT UPPER RIDGE WILL RESULT IN
SLIGHT WARMING AND DRYING LATE IN THE WEEK. MORE PRONOUNCED
UPPER LEVEL RIDGING LOOKS LIKELY BY NEXT WEEKEND...KEEPING WARMER
AND DRIER CONDITIONS IN PLACE.

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL LOW OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA IS
SWINGING A WEAK COLD FRONT ONSHORE THIS MORNING. THIS FRONT
WILL BRING OCCASIONAL LIGHT RAIN AND MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES
TO THE AREA TODAY. EXPECT BREEZY WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS TO
DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING BEHIND THE DEPARTING
FRONT. THE CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE MAY SEE WINDS GUSTING
TO 30 MPH LATER TODAY. THE UPPER LEVEL LOW AND AN ASSOCIATED
WEAK SURFACE TROUGH WILL MOVE INTO THE PAC NW WED. THIS WILL
REINFORCE THE ONSHORE FLOW AND LIKELY TRIGGER SOME SCATTERED
SHOWERS THROUGH WED EVENING. FLAT UPPER LEVEL RIDGING WILL
BUILD OVER THE REGION THU AND FRI...STARTING A TREND TOWARD
WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER. THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGING WILL LIKELY
STRENGTHEN OVER THE WEEKEND...CONTINUING THE WARMING AND
DRYING TREND.
