...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THURSDAY TO 5 AM
PDT FRIDAY ABOVE 7000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY ABOVE 7000 FEET FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM
THURSDAY TO 5 AM PDT FRIDAY.

* TIMING: LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS THURSDAY MORNING WILL INCREASE IN
  INTENSITY THROUGH THE DAY, LASTING OVERNIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 4 TO 8 INCHES WITH LOCALLY UP TO 10 INCHES
  ALONG THE SIERRA CREST. UP TO 2 INCHES IS POSSIBLE BELOW 7000
  FEET.

* SNOW LEVELS: AROUND 7,000 FEET, BUT MAY BRIEFLY LOWER TO 6,000
  FEET IN HEAVIER SNOW SHOWERS.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL WILL BE IMPACTED THURSDAY ACROSS ALL SIERRA
  PASSES, INCLUDING TIOGA PASS, SONORA PASS, AND MONITOR PASS.
  HIGHWAY 395 MAY ALSO BE SNOW COVERED, ESPECIALLY OVER CONWAY
  SUMMIT. HOWEVER, DURING THE DAY SNOW IS LIKELY TO MELT OUTSIDE
  OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW SHOWERS.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO POSE AN INCONVENIENCE TO TRAVELERS. ROADS
WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS...WITH SNOW AND ICE FIRST
DEVELOPING ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. MOTORISTS SHOULD SLOW DOWN
AND USE CAUTION.  CHECK OUR WEBSITE AT WEATHER.GOV/RENO OR LISTEN
TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR UPDATES ON THIS SITUATION.
