FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
415 AM CDT MON APR 27 2015

.DISCUSSION...
THE CENTER OF A BROAD RIDGE OF CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD
SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES FROM TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
THIS WILL MAINTAIN THE ADVECTION OF A COOL/DRY AIRMASS INTO THE
REGION ON LIGHT NORTHEAST FLOW. RH VALUES WILL LIKELY DROP INTO
THE 35-40 PERCENT RANGE FOR MOST FIRE WEATHER ZONES THIS
AFTERNOON. MEANWHILE...AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO
DEVELOP OVER THE NORTHWESTERN GULF LATER TODAY...BEFORE SHIFTING
NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE CENTRAL GULF COAST BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
THICKENING HIGH-LEVEL CLOUDS WILL SPREAD NORTHEASTWARD AHEAD OF
THIS DISTURBANCE...WITH SHOWERS EXPECTED TO BEGIN FOR MOST OF
THE REGION BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. LOW-LEVEL WINDS WILL REMAIN
FROM THE NORTHEAST AT 5-10 MPH TODAY...BEFORE SHIFTING TO THE
EAST AND INCREASING TOMORROW. SMOKE DISPERSION WILL BE GENERALLY
GOOD TO GOOD BOTH TODAY AND ON TUESDAY...AS MIXING HEIGHTS WILL
AVERAGE 4-5 KFT AND TRANSPORT FLOW WILL REMAIN IN THE 10-15 MPH
RANGE.

A FAIRLY WIDESPREAD COVERAGE OF MODERATE SHOWER ACTIVITY IS
EXPECTED ON TUESDAY NIGHT...BEFORE PRECIPITATION GRADUALLY ENDS
FROM WEST TO EAST ON WEDNESDAY. ANOTHER UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCE
MAY BRING A BRIEF PERIOD OF SHOWERS ON THURSDAY. HOWEVER...EXPECT
THE MAJORITY OF THE EXTENDED PERIOD TO BE COOL AND DRY. WARMER
CONDITIONS WILL RETURN BY THIS WEEKEND...AS WINDS SHIFT TO THE
SOUTH.
