Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Missoula MT
1139 AM MST MON NOV 17 2014

Very cold temperatures this past week have lead to the formation
of freeze-up ice jams in many creeks and rivers across western
Montana and north central Idaho. The freeze-up ice jams are
starting to divert water into normally dry floodplains in some
locations. Very cold temperatures are forecasted through at least
mid week with maximum temperatures remaining in the teens and
twenties with minimum temperatures in the 0 to -20 range. Freeze-
up ice jams will continue to form this week. In areas where
freeze- up ice jams form expect water to spread out of the normal
creek and river channels and flood areas behind these ice jams.
Temperatures are anticipated to warm up by the end of the week
which should mitigate ice jams.
