AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE KEY WEST FL
1053 AM EDT SAT APR 25 2015

.DISCUSSION...
CURRENTLY - A HIGH CELL IS DRIVING QUICKLY EASTWARD AWAY FROM THE
SOUTHEASTERN ATLANTIC COAST...WHILE A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES IN
BEHIND. THIS IS FORCING A WEAK RIDGE AXIS ACROSS THE FLORIDA STRAITS.
WINDS ARE CURRENTLY LIGHT OUT OF THE SOUTH. ONLY A FEW SHOWERS REMAIN
ALONG A MARINE BOUNDARY OFF OF THE UPPER KEYS. OTHERWISE...SKIES ARE
MOSTLY SUNNY. TEMPERATURES ARE ALREADY UP IN THE MID 80S...WITH DEW
POINT TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW TO MID 70S.

SHORT TERM UPDATE (THIS AFTERNOON) - THE WEAKNESS OF THE RIDGE...AND
DAY TIME HEATING OVER SOUTH FLORIDA WILL STEADILY TURN SURFACE WINDS
SOUTHWEST...REMAINING LIGHT. RAIN CHANCES WILL BE ESSENTIALLY NIL DUE
TO THE WEAK FLOW WITH A TRAJECTORY THAT IS USUALLY BEREFT OF
LOW LEVEL TRIGGERS. AMPLE SUNSHINE AND WARM FLOW WILL ALSO ENSURE
SUMMER LIKE CONDITIONS...WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR 90...AND DEW POINTS
IN THE MID 70S. WILL UPDATE TO REMOVE MORNING MENTION OF SHOWERS.

&&

.MARINE...
WEAK RIDGING ACROSS THE FLORIDA STRAITS AND DAY TIME HEATING OVER
SOUTH FLORIDA WILL TURN SOUTHERLY BREEZES MORE SOUTHWEST OVER OUR
GULF SIDE WATERS...AS WELL AS ON ON ATLANTIC WATERS NEAR SOUTH
FLORIDA. PORTIONS OF THE OUTER STRAITS MAY ACTUALLY BACK DUE TO
HEATING OVER CUBA. REGARDLESS...WINDS WILL REMAIN LIGHT. ONLY SMALL
ADJUSTMENTS MADE IN THE MORNING MARINE UPDATE.

&&

.AVIATION...
VFR CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL AT BOTH THE KEY WEST AND MARATHON
TERMINALS THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BE FROM THE SOUTH
BETWEEN 5 AND 10 KNOTS.
