ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...MODERATE

SYNOPSIS...A WEAK RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL PASS OVER THE BERING
SEA LATE FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. A LOW WILL MOVE OVER THE WESTERN
BERING SEA LATE SATURDAY... SPREADING OVER THE SOUTHERN BERING SEA
LATE MONDAY. THE LOW WILL SLOWLY TRACK OVER THE WESTERN GULF OF
ALASKA THROUGH WEDNESDAY AS ANOTHER WEAK RIDGE MOVES OVER THE BERING
SEA.

THE MAIN ICE EDGE LIES FROM A POINT NEAR KUSKOKWIM BAY TO 59.3N
167.2W TO 58.5N 166.9W TO 58.4N 169.1W TO 57.8N 170.2W TO 57.8N
172.2W TO 60.7N 179.7W AND CONTINUES INTO RUSSIAN WATERS. THE ICE
EDGE IS OPEN WATER.

FORECAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY FOR THE BERING SEA...LIGHT NORTHERLY TO
NORTHWESTERLY FLOW WILL BECOME MODERATE SOUTHEASTERLY TO EASTERLY
FLOW SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. FLOW IS EXPECTED TO BECOME
NORTHEASTERLY MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY AND NORTHERLY BY WEDNESDAY. THE
ICE PACK IS LIKELY TO CONSOLIDATE ALONG THE SOUTHERN EDGE AND SHIFT
TO THE NORTHWEST THROUGH SUNDAY. AS WIND FLOW BECOMES NORTHERLY
EARLY NEXT WEEK THE MAIN ICE PACK WILL ONCE AGAIN SPREAD APART TO
THE SOUTH WHICH WILL AID IN THE BREAKUP PROCESS. THE OVERALL ICE
EDGE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE A NET SHIFT TO THE NORTH 5 TO 20 NM THROUGH
MONDAY OWING TO MELTING.
